My Rogers Android Woes
I can admit that I’m a bit of a Google fanboy. I have an Android phone and it kills me that I don’t have the latest version of the OS installed on it. Until recently, I ran a custom ROM on the phone and I would manually keep it current with the latest build. But about a month ago Rogers forced me to revert back to their build and as a result I lost a bunch of functionality. But, what really grinds my gears is that because I’m now stuck on an old version of Android (1.5) I can’t use things like Google Goggles, Buzz, or anything new the Google mobile factory might churn out, but my friends with iPhone’s can. I have a Google phone that’s less than a year old (sure, it’s not the nexus one) but I can’t use new Google products on it. Every day I regret signing a 3 year contract with Rogers just a little bit more.
